Texas Real Estate Pre-Licensing Education (180 Hours)

A criminal history or certain background issues may affect a student’s ability to become licensed in Texas. Applicants with criminal convictions, unpaid judgments, or disciplinary actions may request a Fitness Determination (FD) from TREC before applying for a license.

Texas Real Estate Sales Apprentice Education (SAE – First Renewal, 98 Hours)

For your first renewal—active or inactive—Texas requires:

Supervisors must also complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course before renewing.

Texas Real Estate Continuing Education (CE – 18 Hours Every 2 Years)

Texas real estate licenses renew every two years, due by the end of the month in which the license was issued.

Total CE Required: 18 hours

Additional Requirement:
Supervisors must complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course.

Repeat Policy:
Under TREC Rule §535.92, CE credit cannot be given for repeating a course within the same cycle or within two years preceding a late renewal/reactivation.
